Welcome to the Gambling Clinic

I'm Alan Duffy- a counsellor, specialising in the treatment of gambling addiction.  I hold a B.A. (Hons) in Counselling & Psychotherapy with Addiction Studies.

During my time working Extern Problem Gambling, I have worked with many people using a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Program that is specifically designed for the treatment of gambling addiction.  The Program is delivered online, via Zoom call.  In my experience, online treatment for gambling addiction works just as well as face-to-face and has several advantages over in person treatment.

The Treatment Program

The Treatment Program starts with 8 weekly sessions of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).  During the first 8 weeks, we focus on reducing triggers and opportunities to gamble; Motivational Enhancement; Cognitive Restructuring (around irrational beliefs associated with gambling); and Relapse Prevention.  If you have a partner or another loved one who you wish to attend one or more sessions with you, that can be arranged - and is often beneficial in terms of money management.

After 8 weeks, we review your progress and discuss next steps.  Some people will choose to finish up at this stage.  Many will choose to continue on a weekly; fortnightly or monthly basis, in order to maintain recovery.

Cost

Each counselling session lasts 60 minutes and costs €70
